Workshops: New Hope Retreat
We will offer the following workshops this year, based on interest:
- Hoping and Coping in the First Year: Exploring the attitude and life skillsand strategies for surviving the bewildering changes especially in the first year, as you learn to live a new normal, while holding on to hope.
- Transitioning to Living Single – After we cope initially with the reality of our loss we are faced with the reality of being single again. How do we transition to this new role and adjust to the challenges it brings? this workshop looks at the new "reality" of what being single now means to our lives and future.
- Complicated Grief – For those whose grief has been further complicated by muliple losses, death by suicide, violence, sudden traumatic death or various other circumstances which make it very difficult to grieve (and recovery) complicated.
- Experiencing Grief as a Man – How men grieve differently. Balancing relationships, work and the home. Coping with loss and loneliness.
- Nurturing Self-Care - This workshop takes a wholistic approach to self-care through the grief journey. Participants will learn what self-care is, develop an individual self-care plan and practice some beneficial relaxation techniques.
- Christianity and the Griever: Major life-changing events, such as the loss of a spouse, challenge our faith and beliefs in a radical way. This session deals with how our Christian faith can equip us to deal with grief and loss, and the resulting changes in our lives.
- Financial Advice: Managing your day to day affairs and estate planning. Practical and sound advice to help you sort out your financial concerns, with time for a question and answer period.
- Creating a Scrapbook Memory: This hands-on interactive session will assist you with finding creative expression for the photos and keepsakes which feature tresured memories of your loved one. An additional fee of $5.00 will be payable at the session. Please bring your special photos etc.
